Official Texas Vehicle Inspections in Arlington, Duncanville & Mesquite
Under the Texas “Two Steps, One Sticker” program, your vehicle must pass a state inspection before you can renew your annual registration. Lube Masters is a licensed Texas inspection station, so you can get your safety and emissions inspection done quickly and get back to your day.
Texas Safety Inspection
Our certified inspectors check the equipment Texas requires for safe operation on the road, including:
- Horn, windshield wipers and mirrors
- Steering and seat belts
- Parking brake and service brakes
- Tires and wheel assembly
- Exhaust system
- Headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, license-plate lamp and reflectors
- Window tint compliance
- Gas cap (for applicable vehicles)
Emissions Testing (OBD-II)
Dallas County and Tarrant County are part of the DFW emissions program. Most gasoline-powered cars and light trucks from 2 to 24 years old receive an on-board diagnostics (OBD-II) emissions test, where we connect to your vehicle’s computer to confirm the emissions system is working properly. An illuminated check-engine light will cause an emissions failure — if yours is on, our technicians can diagnose the cause first.
What to Bring
- Your vehicle
- Proof of current Texas liability insurance (paper or digital)
- A valid photo ID
How Fast Is It?
Most state inspections at Lube Masters are completed in a short visit. Results are reported electronically to the Texas DPS, so once you pass you can renew your registration online, by mail or at your county tax office. Combine your inspection with an oil change — which includes our 21-point inspection of the whole car — to save even more time.
Frequently Asked Questions
+Do I need an appointment for a Texas state inspection?
No — walk-ins are welcome. You can also request an appointment online.
+How long does a Texas vehicle inspection take?
Most passenger-vehicle inspections are completed quickly, often in under 30 minutes depending on the shop’s volume.
+What do I need to bring?
Bring your vehicle and proof of current Texas liability insurance. A valid photo ID is also helpful.
+Do I need an emissions test in Dallas and Tarrant County?
Yes. Dallas County and Tarrant County are emissions counties, so most gasoline vehicles 2 to 24 years old require an OBD-II emissions test along with the safety inspection.
+What happens if my vehicle fails inspection?
We’ll explain exactly what failed and why. Our auto repair team can fix most failed items — such as bulbs, wipers, brakes or check-engine issues — and you can return for a re-test within the state’s re-inspection window.
